Travel Hockey
The Western Connecticut Youth Hockey Association (WCYHA) is a non-profit organization that offers boys and girls of the Greater Danbury area the opportunity to learn the sport of hockey, and improve their skills through practices and competition. The organization seeks to promote sportsmanship and fair play, while developing players’ characters and athletic abilities. WCYHA strives to be a top-notch hockey program in the state of Connecticut.
Ages
What aged players are appropriate for this program?
Appropriate players at least 6 years old who have completed at least one year of Learn-to-Play.
When
What time of the year does this program run?
Season begins with tryouts in August and runs until playoffs in February.
Where
Where are practices and games typically held?
Practices and home games are held at Danbury Ice Arena, home of the Hat Tricks! We have a wonderful relationship with the rink and many of the professional playing staff work with our skaters!
Practices
When are practices and how often are they?
Teams practice 2-3 times per week. Days and times are determined at the start of each season in cooperation with Danbury Ice Arena.
Games
How many games will they play? What days of the week?
Each level has different game targets. Generally, there will be one home and one away game weekly for our travel program teams, and these games occur on weekends.
Each travel team also plans one home and one away tournament.
Jerseys
Are jerseys provided or are they purchased separately?
Club jerseys are required and purchased through an outside vendor.

Mite: March 5 & 7 @ 5:30pm
Squirt: March 5 @ 7pm, March 7 @ 6:45pm, March 11th @ 6:45pm
Pee Wee: March 4th @ 6:45pm, March 5th & 7th @ 8pm
Bantam: April 10 & 11 @ 8:15pm
Midget: (16U & 18U Tier 2 National Bound) April 10 & 11 @ 8:45pm
